Trude, the world largest TBM with a diameter of 14.2 m, broke through safely and inch-perfect in Hamburg Othmarschen on 2nd March 2002 after driving 2,561 metres underground. The 4th Tube of the River Elbe Crossing Tunnel was completed in two years and five months. Trude's breakthrough marked a new milestone in tunnel construction.
